Committees
The Trustees Committee consists of Jane Duggan, Chairperson; Leo Sullivan, Treasurer; Marcia Burchstead; Julia King and Beverly Sarapin, site commitee and serves as liasion to Friends.
For the past three years the primary focus of the Trustees has been developing plans to purchase land and build a public library. Space has been critical for a number of years, programming and parking is limited. The library has served the community well as part of the Josiah Bartlett Elementary School, but the town has been growing and needs can no longer be met at the current location. Trustees Leo Sullivan and Julia King serve on the site committee and invite any and all input.
In 2010 the Town of Bartlett once again voted to increase the reserve fund which now totals $140,000. With the approval of the Selectmen it will be possible to purchase land if the opportunity arises without calling for a special town meeting.
The Friends of the Bartlett Library Committee consists of Karen Allan, Colleen Allbee, Gerrie Beck, Bette DuBois, Jean Garland, Linda Hastings, Mary “Jackie” Hamblet, Pat Heiges, Judy Ludgate and Nancy Nelson. (Officers and committee assignment below)
The Mission of the Friends is to provide a non-profit organization that sponsors programs to increase the use of the library and expand the cultural options in Bartlett. The Friends also raise money to support special library activities and collections. All money comes from fundraisers and member dues. To join the Friends fill out the forms provided at the library or contact us by email.
