New Hampshire Humanities will be facilitating a Perspectives Book Group event coordinated by the Friends of the Library on February 13th @ 7 pm. This will be a virtual program allowing you to “watch” from the comfort of your own home. The Zoom presentation will also be shown in the library so if you prefer to come in to the library to participate please do. Perspectives provides facilitated group book discussions and copies of the book. Never Caught, The Washington’s Relentless Pursuit of their Runaway Slave Ona Judge is the story of the Washington’s move to the North with their nine enslaved people. Pennsylvania law required that slaveholders free their slaves after 6 months. George Washington tried to get around this system by sending his slaves south every 6 months to reset the clock. On one such trip Ona Judge risked everything in the search for freedom while Washington began a determined effort to recapture his property any way he could.
